Resize video and reduce its resolution

Make a video smaller by lowering its resolution. Clipvexa keeps the proportions, never stretches the picture and shows the exact output size before you export.

How resolution presets work

The presets name the short side of the picture. A landscape 1920×1080 video at 720p becomes 1280×720, and a vertical 1080×1920 video at 720p becomes 720×1280. The list only offers sizes smaller than the original and shows the exact result next to each one.

  • The picture is never upscaled.
  • Width and height stay even numbers, which video encoders require.
  • Audio is kept when your browser can process it.

What this tool does not do

Clipvexa lowers the resolution and keeps the original proportions. It does not crop, add bars or turn a landscape video into a vertical one. If you need a 9:16 clip, start from a video recorded in portrait.

Smaller files

A lower resolution and the “light” quality setting give the smallest files. Combine them with a trim to remove what you do not need.

Frequently asked questions

Does resizing change the aspect ratio?

No. The proportions are kept, within a pixel of rounding to even sizes.

Can I make a video bigger?

No. Upscaling does not add detail, so only smaller sizes are offered.

Does it work for vertical videos?

Yes. Presets use the short side, so a 1080×1920 clip at 720p is exported at 720×1280.
