How to trim a video
Open your video in the editor below. The trim control shows the whole clip: drag the two handles, or type exact seconds in the Start and End boxes. While the video plays you can also press “Start here” or “End here” to mark the current moment.
- The preview plays only your selection and stops at the end point.
- The resulting length is always shown, and the range can never be empty or outside the clip.
- Press Export when the selection looks right.
What happens to the quality
Clipvexa re-encodes the selected part, so the cut falls exactly where you put it instead of snapping to the nearest keyframe. The quality setting (light, balanced or high) controls the size of the result. You can also lower the resolution in the same step.
Local processing
A file opened from your device is trimmed on your device: it is not uploaded to Clipvexa. If you import a direct link instead, your browser downloads it from the host first and then trims it locally.
Limits to know
- The editor makes one continuous cut per export. It is not a multi-clip timeline.
- Your browser must be able to play and decode the source video. If it cannot, Clipvexa says so.
- Browsers without direct file saving accept videos up to 120 MB.
Frequently asked questions
Can I trim a video without uploading it?
Yes. Files from your device never leave it. Clipvexa processes them with your browser's video APIs.
Is the trim frame-accurate?
The selection is set in tenths of a second and the part is re-encoded, so it starts and ends where you chose rather than on the nearest keyframe.
Will the trimmed video have a watermark?
No. Clipvexa never adds a watermark and does not ask you to sign up.
